About MobyScooter.Com
And the Journey Behind It

Welcome to MobyScooter.com.

I’m Romeo Urqueza, and this site is more than just a collection of articles or product reviews—it’s a deeply personal mission rooted in lived experience, compassion, and a commitment to making life better for those who face mobility challenges.

This journey began not in a boardroom or business plan, but in the quiet moments of watching my mother slowly lose her independence. It was in the warehouse where I worked, helping supply mobility aids to people who reminded me of her. It was in the conversations with caregivers, seniors, and individuals who just wanted to feel free again—to go outside, visit friends, or simply move from room to room without fear or frustration.

MobyScooter.com is my way of honouring those stories. It’s a space where practical advice meets heartfelt understanding. Whether you’re exploring mobility options for yourself, a loved one, or someone you care for professionally, I hope this site offers clarity, encouragement, and a sense of community.

Because mobility isn’t just about wheels—it’s about dignity, freedom, and the ability to live life on your own terms. And if I can help even one person feel a little more empowered, then this journey has been worth every step.

From Manufacturing to Mobility

After decades working in pharmaceutical manufacturing, my career came to an unexpected halt when the company I’d devoted 20 years to closed its doors. Like many others, I was made redundant.

But I wasn’t ready to retire—not yet.

I found new purpose in a family-run business that supplied medical aids to seniors and people with disabilities. Among those aids were mobility scooters.

It was meaningful work, but it became even more personal when my own mother began losing her eyesight—and with it, her ability to move freely.

Witnessing the Loss of Independence

Watching my mother struggle was heartbreaking.

She had always been fiercely independent, and the gradual loss of her mobility brought on deep frustration and sadness. Despite my work helping others regain their freedom, I couldn’t do much for her. Her condition wasn’t operable, and her world slowly became smaller.

That experience stayed with me.

A New Chapter

Six months ago, I finally chose to retire.

It wasn’t an easy decision—retirement felt uncertain, even intimidating. Friends warned me I’d be bored. But I saw it as an opportunity to revisit an old passion: building a website.

I’d dabbled in web development before, but time was always scarce. Now, I had the freedom to create something meaningful. The question was—what should it be about?

The answer was clear.

Why MobyScooter.com Exists

This site is dedicated to mobility scooters because I’ve seen firsthand how life-changing they can be. I’ve worked with people who’ve regained their confidence, their freedom, and their joy—just by having the right tools to move again.

And while I couldn’t help my mother the way I wished I could, I can help others. I can help you.

Whether you're exploring options for yourself, a loved one, or someone you care for professionally, MobyScooter.com is here to guide you.

I want this space to be practical, compassionate, and empowering—especially for those who often feel overlooked.
